I had trouble connecting my laptop to my monitor, so I reached out to microsoft support. This led me to widget rave, I went through three tech supports. The first one asked me to install installer windows 11. He warned my about giving out sensitive information such as my financial and personal information on the chat. Then the next tech support directed me to the third tech support, who specialised in surface laptops. This tech support asked for my name, email and phone number before proceeding to assist me. None of the solutions were helping so they asked me for permission to access my laptop via remote control. I was uneased by it but they reassured me that I can end the session if I felt uncomfortable. They narrowed the problem down to replacing the usb-c dock because it is incompatible with surface laptop 4. The tech said that microsoft will send me a free adapter and there is no additional cost. The tech asked for my full name, number, residential address and email. They also sent me an email as confirmation from this email address xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and I'm not sure if it was trustworthy. I received two phone calls during this time from a sydney number, but I did not pick it up. On further research, the phone number is classified as highly likely to be dangerous and others have stated it is a scam call. I felt like I may have been scammed so I questioned the tech support, and they stated it was not a scam. They said that the email allows them to direct connect to me and to check my order history on my microsoft account. I did check my account and the order is there. However, to put my mind at ease does anyone know if this is legitimate or have I leaked my personal information?
