How many external monitors can surface 9 Pro 's thunderbolt ports support?

I have purchased a surface 9 Pro Intel processor model with the intention to display videos on three external displays. mirror mode or extended mode acceptable. At any moment the surface is detecting only two external monitors.

Below are the other system i am using for this project.

External displays : Samsung c8000 55" 4k Tv with HDMI as inputs interface. [Quantity : 3]

HDMI Ports : Microsoft Surface USB-C® Travel Hub. [Quantity : 3]

USB ports : Microsoft Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock [Quantity : 1]

HDMI Cable : High End Optical HDMI cables [Quantity : 4]

Connection

The two thunderbolt ports on the Surface 9 pro is used, one connected to the Thunderbolt 4 Dock and the other with a Surface USB-C® Travel Hub. The other two Surface USB-C® Travel Hub are attached to the Thunderbolts 4 Dock's display supporting 2 Type C ports.

Problem i am facing is, the surface always detects only two external displays some times one connected directly to the surface or one of them connected to the dock, depending on which one is attached last. All the accessories and cables were tested one on one and swapped. Even the surface 9 pro was replaced with a surface 8 pro and got the same issue. I tried reducing the resolution from 2160p 60 hz to 1080p 30 hz on the windows, which didn't improve the situation. The windows and drivers are up to date.

So my doubt is, If there are any constrains with the intel version of surface 9 pro units which makes it support only two external displays.

Please advice.

Thanks and Best regards

Clint Christopher

    Hi Clint,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Thank you for providing detailed information about your setup, Clint. It sounds like you've put a lot of effort into troubleshooting this issue.

In practice, Surface devices only support up to two external displays with or without a docking station. This limitation is due to the hardware capabilities of Surface.

I understand this might not be the answer you were hoping for, but it's important to work within the hardware limitations of your device. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!

    Your Sincerely
