How do I enable handwriting recognition on OneNote?

I've just bought myself the first Microsoft product - a surface 4 - since migrating to Mac - I have 2 macbooks, 1 imac, about 10 iphones and a couple of ipads and ipods of all sizes.

You can imagine the jump I made. I made it because the Surface 4 is the first tablet which is simultaneously a proper laptop (unlike the iPad pro) and it looked like handwriting recognition was working well.

Now I got the Surface 4 - but hello, Microsoft. Unlike with Apple, it doesn't seem to work out of the box.

The pen works but the handwriting option, that button that i'm supposed to see when in the "draw" tab, just isn't there.

What do I need to do?

Thanks

    Hello Marc,

We're here to help. Are you using the pre-installed OneNote app that comes with Windows 10? Or the one with licensed version of Microsoft Office (2013/2016/365)?

To know more about enabling handwriting recognition, you can check NeilPR's post here.

Thanks. There were 2 versions of OneNote.  It works on OneNote 2016 but not the default one.

I was apparently using the wrong one

    Many thanks

    Marc
