Are screenshots automatically saved? I can't find all of the pictures.

How can I locate the screenshots that I have taken. I just got a surface pro 7 a few months ago. After I take a screenshot it displays a message "Snip saved to clipboard." I have checked my clipboard and only 1 screenshot was there. Please let me know how to set a setting to automatically save screenshots.

    Hi Alonzo_00,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

May I know how do you take a screenshot on your Surface Pro 7? Please check on the Screenshots subfolder of the Pictures folder on your C drive. Open File Explorer then select This PC and choose Pictures then Screenshots.

I'm not sure how you are taking the screenshots (there are 2 ways), but if you are using XBOX Game Bar to take screenshots with Win + Alt + PrtScn, the screenshots are saved into the "Captures" folder in "Videos".

If you are using just PrtScn, it doesn't save. It copies onto the clipboard and you will get a Snip & Sketch notification, and you have to click that notification and click the "save" button in the top right of that window.

Also, check the "Screenshots" folder in "Pictures". There might be stuff in there, but I'm not sure which command saves them there.

    Hi ArthurJin,

Did you enable the automatically save screenshot on your OneDrive app? Is it on your OneDrive > Pictures folder?

    Kind regards,

    John Neil_J

No, it has nothing to do with OneDrive, it saves directly to a folder on my PC. I didn't even know that saving screenshots onto OneDrive automatically was a thing.

    Hi Alonzo_00,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.

The option for automatically save screenshot is only available for the OneDrive app. The OneDrive app is Microsoft cloud storage service that lets you store your personal files in one place.

Please check the steps below to turn on the automatic saved of the screenshot on your OneDrive:

    1. Right click or press and hold on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area, click/tap on the menu (3 dots) button, and click/tap on Settings.

    2. Click/tap on the Backup tab, and check (on) or uncheck (off - default) the Automatically save screenshots I capture to OneDrive box for what you want, and click/tap on OK.

To view the screenshot photo, go to your documents folder > look for OneDrive Folder > Pictures > look for the screenshot.
