YouTube on surface 5, not opening context menu for new tab via long touch finger on screen & not maximizing video.

Hi guys,

When I am on YouTube, I go to open a video in a new tab via long press on the screen to bring up the context menu that gives me the option to open in a new tab,  I get no context menu and the video opens on the original tab and not a new tab. Also when I go to maximize the video nothing happens.

Everything is good on other websites and other devices. Just when I am using the surface 5 and only on YouTube.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Jake

    Hi jkeXZ,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the delayed response.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Youtube app itself?  If you haven't done that, you may uninstall/reinstall the app and check if this makes any changes. Aside from doing that, have you tried pressing CTRL button the keyboard to open other videos in new tab? How about right-clicking the video to see options like "open in new tab "? You can also run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit to fix some of the common issues that may happen on your Surface device.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest

    Hi Crest,

I am going directly through MS edge, straight to the YouTube website (Edge does not let me install an app).

I am not using a keyboard or mouse so I can not press CTRL button or do a right click,

I could only do a  long press on the screen with my finger, and that used to bring up the context menu without a problem.

That is what I want to get back to.

I have run the diagnostic tool and it showed that everything was ok.

I tried resetting the surface but that did not do anything.

    Regards

    Jake

    Hi jkeXZ,

    Thank you for your response.

If you already tried resetting the device and it didn't make any changes, then this means that that feature is within the application itself and what I can highly recommend is to check with Youtube or contact them if there was any updates made on their website that removed that feature.

By the way, in the new MS Edge browser, you can click the ellipsis or the 3 dots you can see on the top right portion of the browser while you're opening Youtube, then once you click the ellipsis, it will give you some options > go to App >, then you'll find the option to install YT (install this site as an app).

    Kind Regards,

    Crest
