Surface Pro 7 stuck at Welcome Screen

Hi there,

I have a new Surface Pro 7 I bought at the end of June and tonight it has decided to not let me passed the welcome screen.

It boots up and gets to the welcome screen with time display (photo attached), and where I would normally be able to click or swipe to reveal the next screen where I enter my pin it instead just flashes and returns to this again

I have tried a few different fixes I've seen listed here

  • holding power for 30seconds - didn't work. Just turns power off and then boots back up with the same problem
  • holding power and vol + for 15 seconds - this just seemed to boot into the UEFI Menu, not sure if there's anything I can do from here? When exiting the UEFI menu it restarts and has the same problem
  • I found a desktop fix that used a boot from Safe mode by holding SHIFT and clicking the power icon in the bottom right of the welcome screen, but as you can see in the photo, there's no power icon

Is there something I'm missing, or could try to fix it?

I feel like this might have been caused by a recent update as I've had a notification for a few days asking me to restart the surface to install and complete it and I think maybe it force installed last night.

Any help would be awesome, thanks

Why should you have to "fix" anything if you just bought the computer?

I shouldn't. But if there's something simple I can do to sort it out and get it back to normal, I would much prefer that to repackaging and sending it off for replacement, waiting for it to return and then going through all the hassles and time of re installing everything so I can use it again.

If it comes to that, so be it. But for now I'll see what I can do first
