Hello,

when I'm writing on my surface pro 11, the space around the pen changes color. This only happens when i write on the top part of my screen. It does not compromise the function, but it is kind of annoing. It happens also only when i write, so if I drag it normally, it does not happen. It cannot be damage or water related, as i recieved it less than a week ago. Here is a link to the video video test

    Hello, Christian petraki.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

Thanks for the video demo. Honestly, this is more of a hardware issue originating from the screen.

Some of the stylus recognition points on the screen are not working well which can lead to this issue. At the same time your functionality does not appear to be impaired.

I will assist you in investigating this issue and share with you the following troubleshooting recommendations.

We need to troubleshoot any interference that may be originating from the system or drivers. Please try to manually obtain the driver and firmware installer for Surface Pro 11 to troubleshoot at the driver level:.

Download Surface Pro 11th Edition Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center

Please reboot your device after the download is complete to apply the driver update.

The above steps are usually effective if the problem is with the driver.

If the problem persists, it's reasonable to suspect that it stems from the screen or the Surface Slim Pen.

I don't think the impact of any product quality issue should be borne by the consumer. For your benefit, I would first recommend that you contact the sales agent for the pen and learn about return and exchange services.

If you would like more testing or a fix for a possible hardware issue, I can share with you the steps to create a service order for warranty service:

Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:

    1. Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
    2. Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "Surface screen changes color in the area around the stylus when writing", and then press Enter.
    3. Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
    4. Select "Technical Support" and click "Confirm".
    5. You will see "Chat support" and "Phone support" options, please contact them during working hours, you will get one-to-one support services.

These are the possibilities I can share with you at this time.

    I hope you stay safe.

    Best Regards.

I have been dealing with Microsoft support for months and have done 2 service repairs and 1 device replacement and none of them fixed the problem. I just figured out that the only way to fix it is turning off HDR. I don't know why it only does it when HDR is on but it does. Let me know if this fixes your problem.
