    Hi MaryannYJ,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that your Surface isn't charging properly. Let's troubleshoot the issue together. First of all, I would like to confirm your question. Could you tell me which of the following situations you are in?

    • The battery icon has a power plug, but when you hover on the battery icon in the desktop notification area, it shows plugged in, not charging.

    • When you connect the PSU to wall outlet and to the Surface device, the PSU tip lights up, but there is no change to the battery status. It does not indicate it is plugged in or charging.

    Your Sincerely

    Hi MaryannYJ,

Tip lit: No charging status displayed in Windows:

    • Disconnect the PSU and check connections. Unplugging from the wall outlet for at least 10 seconds resets the PSU. Dirt or debris on the connector's pins could prevent a power connection.
    • Check the PSU and cables for any physical damage. Damaged PSU or cables may cause the PSU to not function as intended.
    • Determine whether the charger is the in-box charger, a different Surface charger, or a third-party charger.
    • If possible, try a different Surface brand PSU or test the charger on another Surface. This will help determine if the issue is with the charger or the device.

If the problem is not resolved, there is likely a hardware problem with the Surface PSU. How to get service or repair for Surface - Microsoft Support

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely
