Charge phone, via USB, while Surface Book 2 is turned off?

Hi

When I travel I like to use the PC as a power-bank for my phone.

However, I have not been able to charge my phone via the SB2 USB without having to keep the SB2 turned on.

I played around with the different battery settings, tried to change the USB selective settings in "Power Options" and change the USB Power Management in the Device Manager (for all USB's not just the generic USB-drivers)

The only way I have gotten this to work is to stop the PC from sleeping when closing the lid - Then I can charge the phone, but .. well .. .if I forgets to shut down the PC later, it will run out of power during the night.

So, is there a way on the SB2 to "Keep power alive in the USB connection, even when the PC is shut down"

Thanks

Søren

What happens when you use the USB port on the power brick itself?

If the power-brick/supply is plugged in to the wall, the USB-port on the brick works no matter if the PC is connected or not. How does that have anything to do with the functionality of the USB-ports of the SB2?

Surface USB ports have always been problematic when it comes to supplying power. I can't suggest a fix. I thought using the brick provided a work around. You can use the Feedback Hub to file a problem report, but that may not result in an engineering change.
