How do I get my Pro 6 equipment fixed so that the micro sd card slot will hold an sd card? When I push the card in the slot will not hold it so it can read it.

    Hi, DaveLiming!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community. We are sorry to learn you have issues with the microSD slot on your Surface Pro 6.

As what you described, it seems this is a hardware issue of the slot itself. If you have tried inserting several cards that are working on another device, there could be a pin that doesn't get in contact with the microSD card to keep it in place. If that is the case, a replacement is provided since Surface devices are not repaired. You may check the page on How to get service for Surface. As an alternative, you may use a USB drive with a microSD slot though.

Please visit this page https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/ to contact Microsoft Support. If you are outside the US, you can check this https://support.microsoft.com/help/4051701/ page that has the Global Customer service phone numbers for Microsoft.

If this answers your question, please let our Community know by marking this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Kind regards,

Thanks, yes I'll have to replace the entire computer, because as you know there is only one USB port on Surface's and I need to use it for backup drives, phone connections, etc. so if I had to use it for the sd card I would loose those.  Also, everything is setup for all my documents to be on the D drive (which is the sd card slot), so if I use the USB port instead, then the card will be on the E drive and none of my things (Excel, Word, One Drive, Google Drive, etc.), will find my documents anymore.

    Hello, DaveLiming.

Files are saved in the storage device where it was stored. For removable storage just like your microSD card or a flash drive, you can plug it to any available port or computer and be able to access the files. You may want to check if you can use a hub that has a slot for a microSD card, USB ports, etc which you can plug the USB port.

    Regards,

    Janette_Z
