This is a VERY Annoying and a time thief. If you are typing in ANY application and you cross where the mouse indicator is hovering, it will input Or delete your text.

    Hi David Rowell1

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Based on the description you posted, it seems that you have an issue with Surface book wherein you want to disable Hover to select. This may be caused by the mouse and touch pad settings need to update.

Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue. We will take some basic steps to further fix the issue.

    1. Click on the Start menu and select "Settings".
    2. Click on "Devices".
    3. Click on "Mouse & touchpad".
    4. Under "Touchpad", toggle off the "Tap twice and drag to multi-select" option.
    5. Under "Touchpad", toggle off the "Tap with a single finger to single-click" option.
    6. Under "Touchpad", toggle off the "Tap with two fingers to right-click" option.

If the step will not be working, we can try to follow this step below.

    1. Press the Windows key + U to open the Ease of Access Center.
    2. Click on Make the mouse easier to use.
    3. Scroll down to the Control the mouse with the keyboard section and uncheck the box next to Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse.
    4. Click on Apply and then OK to save the changes.

This should disable the “Hover to Select” feature across all applications on your Surface Book.

I hope this step will further fix the issue. Please tell me how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Christopher.

    4. Then, under "make it easier to manage Windows" you uncheck "Active a Windows by hovering over it with the mouse."
