Basically the wifi icon an battery life icon have disappeared and the whole black toolbar is unresponsive to clicks.

I’ve tried restarting but the same thing happens every time.

    Hi AdamMuneer,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

I believe you are referring to the Task Bar where you see the time and date and other apps being pinned. If my assumption is right, kindly check the link attached on how you can reconfigure the Task Bark of your Surface device. (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/windows-10-start-layout-options-and-policies)

If it didn't help, I would like you to download this in-place upgrade to further troubleshoot the issue. The issue could be due to corrupted drivers and downloading the tool will re-install missing drivers and repair those that are corrupted. It won't delete files nor remove the applications you already installed so nothing to worry about. Just click the "Download Tool Now", run and install and click Next once you see "Upgrade This PC".

If  this helps, feel free to mark this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if you still need further assistance. I am always here to help.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z
