Wifi slows down when unplugged from power

I've noticed that when I disconnect the power cable I often lag during playing games and downloads usually (doesn't seem to be 100% of the time) take significantly longer so I checked my speed and it is often around 100KBps when unplugged but as soon as I plug in the power cable the speeds increase to 4MBps almost instantly...

I noticed that some other surface devices seem to have this issue from a search online but I couldn't find anything for my surface book 2 so I was wondering why it happens / if there is any fix to avoid it slowing down when unplugged

(when unplugged the battery was on ~35% - If its related to trying to save power while on low battery it somewhat makes sense but its still a pain because if I'm using wifi when its unplugged its not useful if it slows down the more you use the device... - after charging the laptop up to 50% and unplugging it the speeds did only fall to 2MBps when unplugged  but I would've thought that if it was related to power issues, there would be some way such as choosing the best performance power mode (doesn't help in this case) to avoid it slowing down...)

Its slightly irrelevant but I've also noticed that after using any computer for a few hours the wifi seems to slow down suddenly until you turn off and on the wifi (the setting on the computer)... It seems that every time it gets into this unusable state a most, if not all, of the listed networks you can connect to don't appear in the list but after turning it off and on there are a lot more networks available to join... Though that issue seems to be the case for my previous laptops using windows unlike this slower wifi on unplugged power issue which ive only had on this surface book 2 device

(I own the 15inch surface book 2)

    Hi AJ,

Running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit may be able to help resolve the issue. The toolkit resolves common Surface problems. The diagnosis usually takes 15 minutes or less, but can take an hour or longer depending on your internet connection speed and the repairs that the tool needs to do to fix the problems. To run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, click here.
