I have been using my surface pro for many years now, but now the battery started becoming bigger and bigger, so the screen cracked. Is repair still possible and what is the cost for a new screen and battery? It is a pro 4.

Hi there, JanSomers! This is Marc. Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. I'm here to help.

Sorry to hear about your Surface Pro 4 — a swelling battery causing the screen to crack is unfortunately a known issue with some older Surface models, including the Pro 4.

    Is Repair Still Possible?

Technically, yes. Microsoft no longer services Surface Pro 4 directly, but they may offer a paid replacement device usually a refurbished model of the same or newer generation through their Out-of-Warranty Exchange Program.

You can check your options here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/devices

After signing in and selecting your Surface Pro 4, it will show whether it's eligible for replacement and what the estimated cost is.

    Typical Costs

    > Out-of-warranty replacement: ~$450 USD (may vary by region)

    > Microsoft does not replace just the battery or screen, they swap the entire device.

If the battery is swelling, stop using the device immediately and do not charge it, as it poses a safety risk. Place it on a non-flammable surface and seek repair options ASAP.

    Best regards,
