cannot set resolution of monitor as needed
I have a surface book 2 with a surface dock running
Windows 11. I have an Acer Nitro XZ342CK monitor 3440x1440
Monitor attached via usb c dock with hdmi converter to hdmi
It is suggesting a 3840x2160 but that is not correct. None of choices work with this 21:9 monitor.
How can I change the settings to utilize the 3840x1440 resolution?

2022-03-26T19:13:10+00:00 Hi JodySmith,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I understand that you'd like to use the monitor's maximum resolution. I appreciate the details provided.
Please perform the methods below:
- Try to lower the refresh rate and resolution on your monitors. Go to settings > System > click Display > Under Related Settings, click on Advanced display settings > look for Choose a refresh rate then use the drop down.
- Try to extend the display then change the resolution. Go to settings > system > look for Multiple Displays > choose Extended display.
- Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check the settings for new Windows Update.
- Run the System File Checker.
- Unplug the monitor for 15 – 30 seconds to allow the monitor to reset itself then reconnect everything.
- Clear your display cache.
- Undock your Surface from the Surface Dock or disconnect the monitor from your Surface.
- Download the Surface Dock registry file. Choose to Open the file. This file will clear your cache, whether you have a dock or not.
- Select and run surface dock registry.reg.
- Select Yes to allow changes to your Surface, select Yes to confirm, and then select OK to close.
- Restart your Surface, reconnect the Dock and/or monitors, and try your external display again.
- Update your Surface Dock.
- Install the drivers package manually.
- Check the specific OS build of your Windows Settings> System> About.
- Download the driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Book 2 and click download on the next page.
- Please choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
- After the download, runand installthe .msi then Restart the Surface Device
Let me know how this goes.

2022-03-28T16:44:53+00:00 It is resolved. It was simpler than I thought. After hooking everything up, I just had to unplug the pc from the dock and reconnect it. Weird but it worked.
Thank you
