Surface app does not recognize my Surface Pro 8

I did a fresh install of Windows 11 after getting my new Surface Pro 8 (old habit of mine when getting a new PC).

But seems like the Surface app from Microsoft Store does not recognize my device.

It shows a wrong device photo and has no settings designed for my Surface Pro 8.

Particularly, I need to access the settings for "Smart Charging" because it is only charges up to 80% at the moment and I have no way to access that setting.

There is no "Smart Charging" setting on the Surface app despite reinstalling the app or reinstalling the drivers/firmware from Surface Pro 8 support page.

Is there any way to adjust this charging settings without the Surface app or should I wait for the devs to fix this issue?

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, it was still a problem until 2 days ago and nothing seemed to help.

I've already tried the method you suggested before, too (you can see I did all that I can possibly do on my end).

But out of nowhere, the app seemed to recognize my device again yesterday, and I don't know what triggered it.

As you can see in the provided screenshots, there were no recent update since 10/23, which is the day I reinstalled Win11 using Barb's suggestion.

And I can assure you I checked the app 2 days ago and it still wasn't recognizing my Surface Pro 8.

Honestly, it still boggles my mind but it works now (somehow) and displays the correct information.

    Maybe it's the server-side?

    But thank you all anyways!

Did you use a generic W11 installer or the official downloadable recovery image https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage  (if it is available). There isn't any bloatware on these images. If they've posted the official image, it would be good to try it and see if your issue is resolved.

That is a very good point. I have installed via generic Windows 11 creation tools (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11) and maybe that didn't install critical drivers needed. I will report back after trying the recovery image designed for Surface Pro 8. I didn't even know about that link. Thank you.

Unfortunately, this does not solve my problem. I reinstalled the whole thing using the Surface Pro 8 recovery image. Surface app came installed with it this time, but still no additional features for my Surface Pro 8 including the settings to adjust "Smart Charging". It's a bummer. I have to stick with 80% full-charge no matter what my preference is. I wanted to disable it.

When you click/tap on Ki's Surface Pro 8 in the screenshot above, what do you see?

Smart charging on Surface (microsoft.com) is the reference I have.
