    Hello Bobby,

We understand that you're trying to access your Kindle books on your Surface Go. We'd like to know if your Surface Go is still in Windows 10 S mode. If it is, the only way to access your books is by using the web-based reader. If not, you can download the desktop version from the Amazon site directly.

You can also get in touch with the publisher of the application or the developer of the site for further assistance.

To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.

    Regards.

I live in Australia and have just purchased a Surface Go with 4GB Ram running window10S.  I was assured that 4GB was sufficient for running that operating system and would be able to use Kindle as well.  I cannot download the Kindle PC app from the Amazon site as it is only available in the US.  I do not want to upgrade to full windows 10 - is there any work around?

    Hi Doug,

Windows 10 in S mode is a specific mode of Windows 10 that offers a familiar, productive Windows experience that’s streamlined for security and performance, thus, exclusively allowing apps from the Microsoft Store and browsing with Microsoft Edge. If the app is only available in the U.S., then try accessing it or continue reading your books using the web-based or cloud reader on Microsoft Edge since the app isn't available in the Microsoft Store.

Hope this helps. If you have additional questions, please let me know by replying to this thread. This way, I'll get notified and respond back to you as soon as I can.

    Regards.

You can download it but you cannot install it.  You have to take the Go out of the S mode to load it.  This is assinine.

Just another example of how the Go is NOT a tablet.  To use anything they tell you to switch out of S mode.  That is the standard answer I have gotten with every situation with the Go.

Why should I have to switch out of S mode?  I just talked to some idiot on Microsoft chat who told me I had the best of both worlds.  Why doesn't Microsoft have more mainstream apps in the store like Kindle, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Bank (two of the largest in the US), American Express, any airlines?  From the standpoint of being a TABLET Apple has Microsoft beat and always will.  If I take my Go out of S mode, it isn't a tablet anymore, it is a small laptop computer.  Apple and Adroid let their users load any browser but if I want to stay in S mode I can only use Edge which like the Microsoft store has virtually no add-ons.   Microsoft, this is what made the experience on my Windows Phone totally suck after I spend $600 for one and you guys didn't support it worth a crap.  I guess to have a real tablet experience you have to have an iPad or Samsung tablet.  Microsoft doesn't know how to make one.
