Microsoft Update and now no internet connection

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me. I updated to windows 10 and seem to have lost my internet connectivity, keeps showing airplane mode. I can update to windows 11 update as I can’t connect to the internet.

I am getting an error message windows could not find a driver for your network. I’ve googled/YouTubed what I may need to do but nothing seems to be working. I am not tech savvy either. I’ve checked the device manager, network adapters, updated.

How do I install a network driver without any internet access? How do I know which one to install too?

Please help, I’m at my wits end.

Thanking you in advance

    Hi feroza mohmed,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear that your Surface Laptop 3 is unable to connect to the internet after an update.

You mentioned that the device keeps on showing Airplane mode, what happens if you try to turn off Airplane mode?

Also, when you go to Windows Setting > Network and Internet, does the Wi-Fi option shows up or not?

May I know which Surface Laptop 3 configuration do you have? AMD or Intel?

Lastly, when you go to Device Manager, expand Network adapters, does the Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz (for Intel) or Qualcomm Atheros QCA61 Wireless Network Adapter (for AMD) shows up or not? If not, try clicking Action > Show hidden devices then see if the adapter mentioned shows up.

Try also to boot the device to its UEFI screen by following the steps provided here: How to use Surface UEFI - Microsoft Support. Once you are on the UEFI page, go to Devices tab then see if the Wi-Fi option is enabled. Enable the option if not enabled but if the option is already enabled, disable it first then select Exit > Restart now. After the restart, boot back to the UEFI page and enable the Wi-Fi option back then see if issue persists.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,
    Marrion

    Hi Marrion,

Apologies for the delay in replying back, I have been away and no internet access.

Wi-fi option doesn't not show at all in the option.

    Configuration - Inter

Device manager - neither adapters show even when I click on the hidden devices. A Marvell AVASTAR wire;ess -AC Network controller shows and Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter, Microsoft wi-fi direct virtual adapter and Microsoft wi-fi direct virtual adapter #2 show up.

I am just trying out the Surface UEI right now and will update shortly.

    kind regards

    feroza

Following from the last message, I have now tried to boot the device through UEFI settings at no avail. The problem still persists and no network adaptors are found and the flight mode is turned off. I can't turn the flight mode either (it's greyed out rather than allowing me slide the option).

    Look forward to other suggestions.

    kind regards

    Feroza
