Im finding that when I lie down while using my headphones, the touch surfaces will often trigger and interupt my audio or summon cortana on my surface Pro, interupting my work. Is there anyway to disable the function?

    Hi EthanWeiss,

If you want to disable Touch control. Go to search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, then select Device Manager. Select the arrow next to Human Interface Devices and select HID-compliant touch screen. Select the Action tab at the top of the window. Select Disable deviceor Enable device, then****confirm.

To disableCortana. Go to search box on the taskbar to open Cortana. Then, from the left pane click the settings button, and under "Cortana" (the first option) and slide the pill switch to the Off position.

    Hope this answer you concern.

    Regards,

    Hey Loyd,

Thank you for the response. My question is actually focused on the Surface Headphones touchpad functionality, not a Surface Computer.

I noticed a new update for the hardware added in more customizable settings, though it seems touch control functions have no options as of yet. Hopefully it could be provided in a future update. truthfully I found that sometimes the touch controls don't even function....seems to be my luck that they either work when I do not wish it or malfunction when I want it.

There is not a feature to disable the touch control functions.  Thanks for sharing your feedback about this.  I will provide it to the correct individuals here at Microsoft.  While we cannot commit to providing this feature, we appreciate you sharing your feedback with us.

As far as the touch controls not functioning intermittently, there are a couple of things to consider:

    1. Make sure that you are tap the center of the touchpad on either ear and not the edge of the touchpad.
    2. When this occurs, do you hear a beep when you tap the touchpad, this would indicate that the tap was recognized.  If there is a beep, and for instance it does not pause music, it could be because that application may not support the pause feature.  Not all applications support the pause feature.  If there is not a beep, does turning the headphones off and then back on again help?

    Ethan-

I have the same questions/comments about turning off touch controls, I’d also like to see the ability to turn off Cortona’s ‘always on’ feature to help boost battery life for people who don’t use Cortona as an assistant (read: most people)

I have had these since a week after release and I have not been able to update the Firmware past 1.0.4.22.21. Is this the firmware that is most current? I can’t find online anyplace to see new firmware numbers.

Any help with be greatly appreachated.
