Hello Grafmanagement,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
If the problem is that the left click function of the touchpad is no longer working, then this means that the touchpad function has been abnormal, so it needs to be checked from both the software and hardware levels.
The priority is to start with the driver. Please manually download the driver and firmware package for Surface Laptop 7:
Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support ****
Depending on the CPU type of your Surface Laptop 7
After downloading and installing, restart your Surface and see if the problem can be fixed.
If this question still exists, would you like to share with us how long you have purchased this Surface Laptop 7? If this is a brand new device that is only a few days old, then my immediate recommendation is to refund the seller or replace the device. Because this may involve the quality of the product, and the quality of the problem should not be blamed on the user.
- If the product is from Microsoft's official store, you can request a return on the order history page: Returning items you bought from Microsoft for exchange or refund - Microsoft Support
- If this product comes to other sales outlets, please do not hesitate to contact the seller.
If you can replace a new Surface, it is undoubtedly the best way to deal with it. But if the seller refuses to refund or replace the device, read on.
Try this simple repair command first, using System file Checker to perform a quick fix:
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support
It can fix some minor problems, not always, but try.
If the problem persists, try resetting your Surface. Back up all important data first, and then click the Start menu -- Settings -- System --Recovery--Reset PC. Please first select "Keep my files", which is the option that has the least impact on the Surface data.
This usually works if your Surface doesn't involve hardware failure.
