Surface Pen and Sensor

Basically, whenever i try to touch the top of the screen (near the camera) with my surface pen, the pen just moves on its own either to the very left or the very right, depending on where the pen is. This is affecting my usage with closing, opening and moving tabs on browsers, and it's getting quite annoying. Any fixes or ideas as to why my Surface or pen is acting this way?

    Hi ChristianSerapion.

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you're experiencing. Hopefully we'll be able to resolve them quickly.

First I'd like to ask you to check if you have your Windows Update fully up to date?

Something that has been reported as a general cause for these kinds of issues are updates trying to update the drivers while the device is going into sleep mode. Something you can try is to re-install the sensor drivers.

    1. Right click on the Start Menu.
    2. Open 'Device Manager'.
    3. Expand the category 'Sensors' and right click the sensor driver.
    4. Choose 'Uninstall', and if you get the question asking if you want to remove the driver from the device, leave that box and just click OK instead.
    5. After the driver has been uninstalled, reboot your Surface normally and the driver will automaticly re-install itself.

Please mark this answer helpful if it helps resolve your issue.

Sorry about the late reply, I tried the steps you put above, multiple times in fact, and no change. This time, its just a certain part in the top middle that makes the cursor go everywhere

    Hi again.

That does sounds more like a hardware issue.

I would recommend either contacting your technical support department to get help setting up an exchange for your device, or set up an exchange order yourself via MyService.
