Microsoft Surface Pro 7 256GB SSD with 8GB RAM

Dear MS Team,

I have just purchaseed the above.

UIpon checking storage use it states that I have used 78.6GB of the 238GB available. All I have done is download my photos and documents to this device.

I know the RAM is 8GNB on my model. This higher GB usage reference appears to relate to the SSD. Is that correct, please?

Finally, I use Kindle for ebooks, of which I have many, and wish to sync them across devices, incl this Surface Pro 7. I am of the understanding that to do that requires me to download the Kindle App from Windows Store, then login. However, I am scared to do so, in case it gobbles up the rest of my memory.

Are my fears well founded, please?

Many thanks in anticipationm of your help.

Fraser

    Hi Fraser Paterson,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

Pre-installed software, apps and updates use a significant amount of the internal disk space of your Surface Pro 7. For the Surface Pro 7 with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM, the available disk space will be around 205GB (Surface storage options and hard drive sizes). When you first got the Surface and before you downloaded your photos and files, were you able to check how much disk space is available?

You may also go to Windows Settings > System > Storage. Click This PC (C:) then you'll see the details of what are those contents that is taking up the space on your SSD.

It simply says C Disk' when I do this,. However, I sse that it clearly states a total GB available number of near as darn it the 256SSD my laptop has. Effectively therefore, this is an answer. Thank you very much, Marrion.
