I have 4 Surface Pro 3 laptops with Surface docks. The end users want to dock the laptop and have it turn on automatically. How do you do this? My guess is you need do this from the BIOS. Any thoughts?

    Hi, Jason_88_88!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community and taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. Do you have the Surface Laptop 3 and the Surface Dock? Is this a setup for an office/business/enterprise?

We need to know what you want to achieve with your setup. Can you elaborate more on this? So we will understand the situation better.

Is this how you want it?

    1. Connect the Surface Dock (already connected to a power source) to the Surface device (while it is completely turned off).
    2. Expect the Surface device to turn on after being connected to the dock.

    Looking forward for your response!

    Kind regards,

    Hello Jenette,

I do have a Surface Laptop 3 and the Surface Dock.

What I want is the Surface Laptop 3 is powered down and not connected to the Surface Dock power cord to start when the power cord is connected.

My end users don't want to open the Surface Laptop 3 and push the power button when docked.

    Thanks,

    Jason_88_88

I have the same issue and question. I'd rather not send the Surface 3 back but without a way to power it on while docked is a deal-breaker.

    Thanks.

    Norm
