My Surface stopped going to sleep while closed in the docking station, and my monitors stay on all night now. It did when I first purchased it.

    Hello cjoyle81,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Since you're using a Surface Pro 9, we've moved your threads to the correct location.

I surmised that the issue might have something to do with the Surface Pro 9's modern standby feature. This feature is not the same as S3 standby mode on other devices, if you set the cover to go to sleep, then your Surface Pro 9 will go into modern standby mode, but the apps are in the background and remain working, which is to make it easy for users to quickly get the Surface into working mode when the cover is reopened.

However, we may still need to confirm some information about you:

    1. Can you specify here what brand and model of docking equipment you are using?
    2. The monitor is on all night, which means it shows the desktop directly? Or is the screen black, but lit?

    Best Regards,
