What is the problem with my Surface Pro 4 when the display goes black with a battery icon?

My Surface Pro 4 is a workhorse. But I think I use it too much. Anyway, I was working and it went to a black screen with a picture of a battery icon. What is my next move?

The black screen with a battery icon indicates that your Surface Pro 4 battery is critically low. You need to plug in your device to a power source immediately to charge the battery. Once the battery is charged, you should be able to use your Surface Pro 4 normally.
