Hi,

So I got my surface go 3 today, after hours of updating the Tablet doesn't boot anymore,

a real nice experience,.

is there a easy way to solve this problem or do I have to do the complete reinstall using a usb drive?

for context we are in 2023 and not in the year 2000......

Thanks,

    Hello Sérgio,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you're experiencing issues with your Surface Go 3 after an update. Definitely not the experience we want you to have with your brand-new Surface.  I empathize with the challenge you're facing right now and the impact it can have on your productivity and peace of mind.

The updates on your Surface Go 3 may have failed for a number of reasons. An update may be interrupted if your device runs out of power while it is updating or if your device loses internet connectivity while it is updating. Let us work on this together.

    • Is your device stuck at the Windows logo screen, with the spinning circle at the bottom?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Disconnect Accessories: Disconnect any USB drives, USB accessories, external monitors, the Type Cover, or anything else you’ve connected to your Surface.
    2. Force the device to shut down and restart. Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
    3. If your device is still not booting up, you may need to perform a recovery using a USB drive. See Creating and using a USB recovery drive for Surface - Microsoft Support.

Please note that this process will erase all data on your device, so make sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

I hope the provided solution works for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

    Thanks for your reply,

And no there was no external drives or devices connected, power supply was connected, this was the first setting up, brand new surface go 3.

This is really a bad experience, after hours of updating, rebooting windows was not able to find the boot partition!! I tried everything and no result, I will create a restore usb drive.

I have used a lot of android tablets and still use a iPad Pro, and newer had this kind of experience, it is not acceptable that Microsoft after so many years doing surface tablets still is not able to deliver a normal device that is user friendly.

I will return mine ASAP, not worth my money

    Thanks anyways,

    You're welcome, Sérgio.

I understand and respect your decision on this. If I were in your situation, I would definitely feel the same way. This is quite unusual knowing that the device is brand new. There may be just some interruption during the update process.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you regarding this concern.

    Happy Holidays!
