I had an issue with Bex64 crashing and stopped some services with misconfig.exe. Now can't log in as camera and pin not available. Have a MS Studio and shift/ power does not boot to safe mode. Any suggestions how to get into safe mode to turn services back on.

    Hello, Vaughn Wilkinson.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

If you are unable to access the advanced startup items via the Shift+Power key combination, you can try the following:

You can get to the WinRE recovery screen by repeating the forced reboot:

    • Turn off your Surface by pressing and holding the Power button for 10 seconds.
    • Press and hold the Power button until the Surface logo appears, then release it.
    • Repeat this process three times, and on the third reboot, the device should enter WinRE.

Next you can refer to the content in the following link to try to access Safe Mode:

To reopen a service that was stopped via msconfig.exe, you can follow these steps:

    1. Use msconfig to restore the service:

    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig and press Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, select the Services tab.
    • Check the services you wish to re-enable, then click Apply and OK.
    • Restart your computer to apply the changes.

    2. Use Service Manager:

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc and press Enter.
    • In the Services window, locate the service you wish to re-enable.
    • Right-click on the service name and select “Properties”.
    • Set the “Startup Type” to “Automatic” or “Manual” and click the “Start” button.
    • Click “Apply” and “OK”.

I am here to look forward to your progress and stand ready to assist you further.

    Best Regards.

    Thanks Leo.

Got into Win RE but when attempted to boot to safe mode just booted normally with the same issue. The second time selected Start Up Recovery and it automatically fixed the issue and computer works fine.
