Closed keyboard cover triggers touchscreen on Surface Pro 4

I'm using a Surface Pro 4 with fingerprint keyboard cover on an external monitor via miniport/HDMI.  I like to keep the cover closed to keep off dust etc since I'm not using the touchscreen.  but when closed, I get random "touch" waves on the desktop (mostly at edges) indicating active touchscreen activity,  which also jerk the cursor off to the edge of the screen. It seemed to stop when I disabled the touchscreen driver, but that seems a crazy thing to have to do every time I close the cover.  (also no problem if cover is open; so it's the keyboard that's triggering the touchscreen when closed)

My other worry is if the keyboard triggers the screen when closed (even though screen is dark/off) it's sending signals and using battery power if it's activating screen somehow. I thought closing the cover would completely deactivate the touchscreen. Is using the external monitor overriding that somehow?

Thanks.

You can use 7zip to extract the exe, extract the zip, then extract the msi.

The resulting files need to be renamed to remove the *CalibG4 prefix.

I've executed it, now I'm waiting to see if it fixes the problem.

I suspect that it's related to the temperature, when it gets hot the touch screen becomes more "sensitive" or so.

    Hi John P. CA,

Thank you for posting in the community. Can you confirm “System Firmware Update – 11/2/2015” is successfully installed when you view your update history? Please also restart the device couple times after the update.

    Kind regards,

    Clare

Same here, and I found some same situation on reddit too... I think Windows should turn off the touch screen when the typecover is closed...
