highlight surface pen in edge malfunctioning?

Question

I am having issues with my surface pen. When I highlight a line in edge it keeps dragging the page from left to right instead of highlighting sentences. And then it keeps getting stuck and highlights unevenly if it even highlights at all. Adjusting the page size to cover the screen fully or making it smaller did not help. Is something wrong with my pen, it has been happening ever since I bought it. I already tried reconnecting the pen as well.

Hello n Ros,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. You can select text by quickly double tapping a word and then dragging the selection grippers or you will see 2 dots on both ends to adjust the words highlighted or you can press and hold the pen's barrel button while you highlight the desired text.

Hello, 

Thank you for your response. I have tried what you've responded on your reply. But the only thing that does work is that when I double tap a word, this one word, gets highlighted. For the rest none of the options work. And I am still not able to highlight the text by dragging my pen over the screen. No selection grippers or 2 dots appear. I want to be able to highlight sentences. 

The eraser function of the back button also does not work anymore.

Hi, no it is on a downloaded pdf document, not directly on a webpage.

Hi, sorry for the late response. There might be some changes when it comes to highlighting text using pen in pdf document. Try to Restore your PC to an earlier point in time or go back to the previous version where it was working fine.
