Hi

My ability to connect to wifi on my Surface Pro 7 suddenly stopped working. The icon disappeared was seemingly replaced by the Bluetooth option. The bluetooth icon has since disappeared as well and currently only the airplane mode remains visible. I opened Device Manager and my wifi driver "Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz" has a yellow sign next to it. I tried disabling, restarting and enabling. I tried uninstalling, nothing has changed. Currently when I open my settings, select "Get help" it says my Wi-fi is turned off, when I select "Turn on Wifi" it attempts to connect to no avail. Please advise Thank you.

The only access to the internet I have is from my phone's data plan and I typically tether the Surface Pro to my phone. Thank you

    Hi sinéad,

Thank you for posting Microsoft Community.

I am aware that you’re having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi on your Surface Pro 7. Based on the information you provided, it looks like your Wi-Fi driver is not functioning properly, as indicated by the yellow sign next to it in Device Manager. I am here to help and let us work on this together.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter: This tool can automatically detect and fix common network issues. To run it, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network troubleshooter.
    2. Try rolling back the driver to a previous version by going to the Device Manager, right-clicking on the "Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz" driver, selecting "Properties", then going to the "Driver" tab and selecting "Roll Back Driver".
    3. Force restarts your Surface: Close any open programs and then press and hold the power button until the logo screen appears (about 20 seconds).
    4. Manually update the drivers and firmware for your Surface.
      1. Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro.
      2. Then click the link next to Surface Pro 7 then click Download on the next page.
      3. Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
      4. After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, kindly give answers to the following questions so we can further isolate your issue and formulate appropriate troubleshooting steps.

    • May I know what build version of Windows you're currently running?
    • When did this issue started?
    • Were there any changes made prior to this issue happening?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
