buzzing sound in laptop

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a second-hand laptop (Surface 3, 256GB, 16GB RAM, 15-inch). It has only been charged 150 times, so it's not that old. However, there is a buzzing sound inside. It's a soft sound that I can barely hear, but it's noticeable in a quiet room. The buzzing stops when I open a window, type, or touch the touchpad, but it starts again once the action is completed. I wanted to know if this is normal or if there is a problem.

P.S. I don't think it's related to the fans because the sound is present from the moment I turn it on, even when it's at its coldest temperature.

I would really appreciate your help.

    Hello, jamshid Karami.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

If this is a used Surface Laptop 3, there is no guarantee that the quality of this device is absolutely intact. This is because we are not sure of the level of wear and tear on this device.

After reading your description, I noticed that this device makes a humming sound when it starts up. In fact, it is normal for the unit to make a slight noise during operation. If your unit is not overheating, or making unusually loud noises while in use, you can pretty much ignore the humming.

I also recommend installing the latest driver version for your device, as this will allow you to troubleshoot any unknown driver faults and maintain device performance:

Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support

If you have any concerns about the quality of the device's hardware, I would recommend talking to the seller for more information about what's possible.

    I hope you stay safe.

    Best Regards.
