Surface Slim Pen 2 not Charging on Surface Studio Laptop Charging Dock

I recently bought my Surface Studio Laptop and Surface Slim Pen 2 this past June 2024. This means that it has only been around 7 months since I have purchased these products. I normally charge the pen on the charging dock under the keyboard of my laptop, and it has worked fine before. Yesterday, I got a notification saying that my pen was at low battery and as one would, I left it on the charging dock for around an hour. When I returned to my laptop, the pen had completely died and wouldn't register that it was charging on my Surface app. I went through all of the troubleshooting tips (on the Surface app and Google) and also went to my university's IT help desk, and nothing worked to get it to turn on. I tried to request a service repair but was unable to because "my warranty is expired". This is not possible as it hasn't even been a year since I purchased both of these products and the warranty for my laptop is showing up on my account. I also don't want to have to buy either a whole new pen or a new charger as I am a college student with limited funds. This is very irritating as I need the pen to complete many of my school assignments and notes. Any advice would help please.

    Hello, Abby Calimlim.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

Thank you for your description of the incident and I understand your concern at this time.

I am sure you have tried the possible troubleshooting suggestions:

Fix problems with charging Surface Slim Pen - Microsoft Support

Obtaining repair services is obviously a more appropriate and effective option at this point. Prompting that the warranty has expired is clearly a false phenomenon.

I will share with you here the common steps in the community to create a service order, and we can reach out to the Surface technical support team and get the details of the repair through the following:

Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:

    1. Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
    2. Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "Surface Slim Pen won't Charge", and then press Enter.
    3. Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
    4. Select "Technical Support" > "Surface Accessories" and click "Confirm".
    5. You will see "Chat support" and "Phone support" options, please contact them during working hours, you will get one-to-one support services.

Note: When using the Surface App, please sign in with your current device's Microsoft account.

I hope your hardware issue will be handled properly.

    Best Regards.
