Hello community,

I have a problem with a Surface Pro 9 with an Intel SQ3 processor (arm)

I am trying to boot this pc from a USB stick to install Windows 10 via SCCM.

The boot stick works fine with another Surface Pro9 with Intel technology and the task sequence starts without problems, however on the Surface Pro 9 SQ3 it does not work, it does not start at startup.

How can I boot from USB (winpe) this Surface Pro 9 SQ3 device?

any help is appreciated...

    Hello, De Palma Francesco.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

I understand that you want to install Windows 10 system on Surface Pro 9 with an Intel SQ3 processor (arm) via the SCCM method.

I'm sure you're aware of the common way of installing Surface systems, where we tend to get the image file through a dedicated Surface Recovery Image site. But that way you end up getting Windows 11 system, so that's why you would install Windows 10 via the above method.

But apparently, the problem you are experiencing is due to the difference between the Arm system architecture and the X64 system architecture. The processor model of this Surface Pro 9 does not support the current installation method.

Surface Pro 9 with Intel SQ3 processor (ARM architecture) only supports Windows 11, version 22H2 and later. Attempting to install Windows 10 on this device may result in driver compatibility issues and other functionality issues.

    Hello,

    thanks LEO for your reply.

the initial problem is that I can't even start a normal USB stick with Windows Pe installed

I would like to at least be able to start with a USB stick

    Hello, dear De Palma Francesco.

    Thanks for your reply.

Currently you no longer seem to be able to boot this device via the USB media, which is also related to the contents of the USB media. I am able to help you re-install this device to a standard state, but this will require formatting your USB recovery drive, or using another USB drive.

I will share with you the process to properly reinstall your Surface Pro 9:

Please go to the following site to obtain a recovery image:

Surface Recovery Image Download - Microsoft Support

Get it by logging into your account and entering your device's serial number:

After completing the creation of the recovery drive, continue to refer to the guidelines in the following link to complete the recovery operation:

The link shows us a complete demo video and key textual guidelines:

If the image file is incorrect it may not be possible to boot from the USB media. With the above steps, we were able to at least restore the use of this device.

    Best Regards.

    Hello, dear Leo.

    Thanks for your reply.

sorry but i am already able to recovery this pc from original Recovery Image,
the task I would like to perform is different.

I would like to boot this device using a different USB key other than its original recovery image, example classic Windows Pe or normal usb boot from sccm Task sequence.

    help is appreciated.
