BSOD ov7251.sys Problem After Attempting Intel Driver Update

Hello, I own a Surface Book 2 and have some available updates from Intel for my Surface.

I get a BSOD for the above mentioned file. The previously stated resolution is to disable the camera to get around the BSOD. However, the problem becomes that once the camera is disabled, I am no longer able to use it. If I want to use it I have to enable it, and then reboot, and then get the BSOD.

This is unacceptable and there should be a workaround available.

My Surface Book 2 has the latest firmware updates from Microsoft and is thus up-to-date, as well as Windows Update has no available downloads.

In addition, with an additional Intel update, I am getting a separate but related BSOD with a KMODE_exception_not_handled error, which according to some google articles I read has something to do with compatibility with the built-in GTX1060.

I have the latest DRIVERS from Nvidia for the GTX1060, and still have the BSOD for this particular INTEL update.

This sounds like another Microsoft issue as well, likely tied to the Surface Book 2.

My Surface is no longer under warranty (as of a week ago).

    Hi MikeGrej,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you and we understand that the resolution you have which is to disable the camera is not viable since it would also prevent you from using the camera of the device.

May I know what is the Windows Edition, Version and OS Build that your Surface Book 2 is running on? To check, you may go to Windows Settings > System > About then see Windows specifications section.

Kindly provide us also with the Driver version of the NVIDIA graphics driver and the Camera driver that is currently installed on your Surface.

Kindly try first running first running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit on the device (see: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (microsoft.com)) then proceed running these the system file checker tool by following the steps below:

Open Command Prompt (Run as administrator)

Type and enter these commands below:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthSFC /scannow

Note: Allow each command to complete its process before entering the next command line

Exit Command Prompt and restart the Surface

    Kind regards,

    Marrion

I am running the dism and sfc commands and will report back.

What is the proper tool I should use underneath the Diagnostics Toolkit?

There are many different choices to try?
