Hello,

The device im running is a surface book 2 that i believe is up to date. I was browsing the event viewer and found erros. Some criticals errors and warnings as well. Lately running certain programs and causing the computer to go under heavy load would make it very hot. How can I diagnose the computer and how can I fix these issues? The computer would get so hot I couldnt touch it.

Thank you for the help!!!

    Hi [Syndicosis],

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Please run these steps on your Surface Book 2 to troubleshoot the issue then observe if still the issue persist:

1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check Windows Update

    2: Update drivers and firmware

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Book 2 then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

3: Run System File Checker Tool in Windows 10

If still the issue persist, please try to confirm if the drivers and firmware of the device up to date by going to Device Manager and compare the driver version in these page: Surface Book 2 update history. Take note of these drivers: Surface UEFI Capsule (last update August 2020) and Surface System Aggregator (last update July 2020).

    Hope this helps.

Okay I did all that and I am still getting system errors in the event log. Some of them are surface TCOM, kernel-power, schannel, etc.

Also, FindMy device is not working at the moment. Is this because I use a vpn? Usually I have it on and it says that my surface book is critical battery and the findmy feature is off.

    Thank you for the help
