Surface Laptop Keyboard Not Working

Hi,

There’s a yellow triangle error next to ‘Surface Keyboard’ under ‘Firmware’ in ‘Device Manager’. It keeps saying the device cannot work properly until the computer is restarted (code 14) but I’ve restarted it several times and I still cannot use any of the keys on my keyboard nor the touchpad. I have Windows 10 on my laptop.

Does anyone have suggestions to how to fix this? I really need to fix this issue ASAP.

    When this happens, it might be due to driver issue or potential hardware failure. Please try updating first the driver in Device Manager and see if it fixes the issue:

    1. Open Device Manager, and locate the driver with the error.
    2. Right-click the device with the yellow exclamation mark and select the Update driver option.
    3. Choose Browse my computers for drivers, then select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
    4. Then, check all the options and follow installation prompt.

    Otherwise, to determine whether this is a hardware failure or not. Check if your keyboard works in UEFI or not. See How to get to the UEFI settings on a Surface for more details.
