When I try to pair the pen with my laptop, it pairs but does not say connected until press the top cap again. But, whether it says paired or connected, the pen does not work with my touch screen. My touchscreen is working and the pen works with my friend's laptop so I don't know what the problem is. I have tried restarting, updating and troubleshooting. Please help.

    Hello Morountodun Adeseyoju,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We really appreciate all the efforts that you did just to possibly resolve the issue.

Here are some things to try first if your Surface Pen won’t write, open apps, or connect to Bluetooth.

**1.Test your pen by inking, writing, or erasing in OneNote, Sticky Notes, or Fresh Paint.**If your pen works in one of these apps, then the app you want to use may not work with pen.

**2.Open apps and use your Surface with touch.**If you can't use your finger on your Surface, go to Surface touchscreen: Problems with touch. After touch is working, try your pen again.

**3.Check the battery level of your pen.**If you've paired your pen you can check this in your settings. Go to Start  > Settings> Devices> Bluetooth & other devices, then find your pen to see the battery level. If the battery is low or doesn't have power, you may need to change or charge your battery. For more info, go to Change Surface Pen batteries.

**4.Check your pen settings.**To check your cursor, handwriting, and top button settings, go to Start  > Settings> Devices> Pen & Windows Ink. To check your pen pressure settings, open the Surface app and select the Pentab to adjust it.

5.Check the LED light on your pen. If you aren't sure what the LED light on your pen means, go to the section My pen won't pair with my Surface or The light on my pen is blinking red or doesn't turn on

6.Update your Surface. See Install Surface and Windows updates and Download drivers and firmware for Surface.

                        7.Run theSurface Diagnostic Toolkit.

    Hi Jonas_T,

Thank you so much for replying quickly but I went through your list and nothing worked :(

I can't use the pen in different apps or check its pressure settings because it has no effect on the touchscreen. The touchscreen works with my finger fine. When the pen "connects" it shows the pen is 100%. The LED on the pen blinks continuously until it is paired with my laptop. My laptop is fully updated. The Surface Diagnostic Toolkit only detected that my laptop is single-touch and that it wasn't plugged in in the beginning.

Honestly, I am very tired of my laptop having issues. I just replaced my old laptop with this one because it wouldn't detach. Now, this one will not work with a Surface Pen. Is there a way I can get a replacement for my pen or something? It is new as well and there has been no damage to it.

Which Surface do you have? You posted in Surface Pro 2 and I don't think this is

what you have. Is it a Surface Laptop2 or a Surface Book 2? Also what version of

Windows are you running. Can you run

    winver

and reply with the version AND build number shown.

I know you said touch works, but does pinch and zoom fail as well when in this

condition (open a web browser and use 3-4 fingers to zoom and pinch a web page)?

Others have found that going into device manager and disabling/enabling the

"Intel(R) Precise Touch Device" in device manager made both the pen and the

multi-touch work again. Open device manager, click on human interface devices to

expand it and it should be near the bottom of the list.
