Surface Laptop 2 not showing camera image

I feel like I am having a weird and unique problem. I have a Surface Laptop 2 and I cannot get it to show a camera image in the Camera App, Teams, zoom, etc. This problem even occurs with an external webcam, which just shows black.

I can log onto the computer with Hello Windows, the camera is present in the device manager, so I am assuming it's "working". I even tried to completely re-installing Win11 from a new USB install, but always the same result.

I cannot use this laptop for Teams and Zoom calls and need the hive mind to figure it out.

Steps taken,

-Confirmed camera is toggled on in BIOS

-re-installed win11 new

-driver updates, even tried driver genius to update the computer

-tried known working external camera, same result

    Hi ZenergyQ,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. I appreciate the time and effort you spent in trying to resolved the issue and I'm sorry if performing those steps did not help you resolve it. When camera isn't working in Windows 11, it might be missing drivers after a recent update. It's also possible that your antivirus program is blocking the camera, your privacy settings don't allow camera access for some applications.

Do you have third party anti virus app installed on your device? If Yes, try uninstalling the app and check if camera works. For additional troubleshooting , you can try these steps below:Try to reset the Camera app on Settings.

    1. Click Start -> Settings -> Apps -> Apps & features.
    2. Scroll down to find Camera app in the app list. Click it.
    3. Next click Advanced options link under Camera app.
    4. In the new Camera settings window, you can click Reset button under Reset section to revert the Camera app to its default settings.

If resetting the app doesn't fix the issue, try to uninstall the app using PowerShell Utility.

    1. Press Windows + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) to open PowerShell.
    2. Copy and paste this command:  get-appxpackage *Microsoft.WindowsCamera* | remove-appxpackage
      and hit Enter.

After removing the Camera app, you can open Microsoft Store app to search for Windows Camera app to download and install it again on your Surface device.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
