Surface Laptop Studio (gen 1) not utilising the Nvdia RTX Card

My SLS is not utilising the Nvidia RTX 3050 card.

Things I have tried:

  • Disabling driver, reinstalling newer version
  • setting high performance to programs in both NVidia app and windows settings
  • laptop power settings on best performance
  • factory reset and re-tried all of the above.

None of the above have utilised the driver in Solidworks, Rhino and Adobe creative suite.

I paid a lot of money for this upgrade to sit idle on my laptop. Please advise

    Hello James Bartlett,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

There is one very important piece of information that you need to confirm:

    • Right click on the Start menu, then open the Device Manager, in the Display Adapter, make sure you can see the NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti driver device.
    • Meanwhile, Please check in the Processor field whether this device uses the Quad-core 11th Gen Intel® Core™ H35 i5-11300H Processor or Quad-core 11th Gen Intel® Core™ H35 i7-11370H Processor

The first generation of the Surface Laptop Studio was released in two versions, but only the one with the core i7 was equipped with the NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti:

However, if you are using the i7 device, please download the driver and firmware package for this model, and then manually install it to confirm whether the problem still exists:

Download Surface Laptop Studio Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center
