Surface Pro - SSD partitions

Hi,

I am very happy with my Surface Pro. I did a full recovery as well as refresh since I've had it (not for any particular problems)

I have check the drive partitions the other day and I am wondering if the available space decreased each time (sorry it is in French):

"partition de récupération" = recovery partition

(the blank space is because I edited my microSD out of the screenshot)

As you can see, the 7.62GB recovery partition is at the end of the SSD as it should be but somehow 4 small recovery partitions have appeared as well... a 600MB, 200MB, 450MB & 350MB meaning a total of 1600MB is not available on the OS.

I'm wondering if anyone can explain me what caused these smaller partitions and suggest how to recover that 1600MB space on my drive?

Kind regards,

Quentin

    Hello Quentin

Thank you for reaching out to us.  Let's see if I can address your concerns.

The partitions you see are needed by the operating system.  Although it is possible to remove the recovery partition, it is not recommended.  Doing so can impact your ability to refresh, reset and complete other repair options.  They may even make it so Surface does not operate normally.  Yes, it is possible to move the recovery partition to a USB device, but the results are not always optimal.

If you have concerns about storage, consider these options.

    Best regards

I think it's best to keep the recovery partition on the SSD but i'd like to know why there are 4 different partitions allocated for recovery instead of just the one?

Does anyone else have an idea why there are so many different recovery partitions?
