I understand that the power button can be changed so that when you press it it either sleeps, hibernates, turns off, or does nothing. I was wondering if there's any way to set up the power button so it will only lock the tablet but not put it to sleep so it will have all my apps still running.

No, I have a Surface Pro 2. I have tried all combinations and restarts... Found a post suggesting that the Bluetooth Radio Link driver was to be blamed. I rolled back the driver to previous version and that seemd to solve my problem.
Cant find the link now, I think it was from theverge.com but it's down atm.
3. Tap Change plan settings for the active power plan.
4. Now you can change the Put computer to sleep option to Never for on and off battery.
Hope this helps!
Hello Michael,
Thank you for posting your question on how to set the Power button on your Surface to be used to lock the screen but not to put it on sleep mode. Did you find 7thSence information helpful? Please let us now so that we can better assist you.
Thank you again for posting.
Cheers,
7thSense information was not what I'm looking for. I understand you can change the power button to either put the computer to sleep or do nothing. I was wondering if there's a way to change the power button so it can either just lock the computer or turn off the display (without putting the computer to sleep).
