Hello, I am asking a question about the Surface Book 2. Does it have 2 batteries, and if it does, how long will it take for both batteries to charge? Last question, is the a way I can make it automatically switch and start charging the second battery when battery 1 is done?

    Hi Alex,

Yes, there is a battery that powers the device while in Tablet mode and another in the base when it is used in Laptop mode. In Laptop mode these batteries work together to provide the longest battery life and, when charging, will automatically switch from one to the other. You can check on the battery charge progress by clicking the battery icon in the taskbar. For more info on charging your devices, please view Surface battery and power article.

For more info on Surface Book 2, please view Surface Book 2 Tech specs and Surface Book 2 fact sheet.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to get back to us.

    Regards.

Are you confirming that batteries can be replaced by Microsoft or an Authorized

Service Provider and it is not necessary to replace the entire device as has

been the case with every other Surface that has been released? Microsoft has

    never replaced a battery.

And what, pray tell is ""XX battery life""?

    >The battery in this device is not user replaceable and should only be replaced by Microsoft or a Microsoft Authorized Service Provider.

i see comments that don't relate to original or i cant tell what was in deleted post.

I just spent $2500 on a surface book 2. if i have to throw it away after 500 battery cycles, i will be most unhappy. it appears i have until january to return.

Hmmm. The other answer was very strange.

The batteries can not be selected to charge one then the other. However you can plug in each device individually.

Takes about 30 min to get 25% charge and 2hrs for a full charge.

When charging via usb c it seems to be almost twice as long to charge.

    Hope that helps
