Microsoft Surface Go 2 Auto-Rotate Issue [upside down / uncalibrated / reversed]

My Microsoft Surface 2 is up to date. I've ran the Surface Diagnostic Tools. The HID Sensor Collection V2 drivers are functioning correctly. I've tried the pen calibration and touch tool. None of these resolved the issue.

Issue: In landscape, autorotate works as it should. When I rotate the surface go 2 into a portrait orientation, it flips it upside down / reverse.

Hello Microsoft Surface Go 2 User,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear about this issue on your device. I understand how concerning it is to have such problem.

In this case, I'd highly suggest resetting the device and perform a clean reinstallation and update of Windows while keeping your personal data and most Windows settings intact.

To reset your PC, go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PCGet Started. Then, select Keep my files, choose cloud or local, change your settings, and set Restore preinstalled apps? to No.

Let me know how it goes. I'll wait for your response.

    Regards,

    StevenK

Is there another option? Your suggestion seems a bit extreme or for lack of a better word, lazy and canned, for what I'd imagine is a simple recalibration or setting change in the registry.

Thanks for keeping me posted, Microsoft Surface Go 2 User.

I'm afraid that we don't recommend changing the registry as it might lead to a different issue. In that case, then please try to Use System Restore - Microsoft Support. Otherwise, Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support and check if issue occurs on another user.

If issue still persists, then resetting the device while keeping your files and data is the next option.
