Surface Dock 2 not recognizing monitors

Recently, my surface dock 2 has stopped recognizing my monitors. I've had 2 monitors connected for about 8 months, but recently they intermittently do not connect. I turn them on and they both say 'no signal', but they are plugged in. I've turned them off and unplugged them and plugged them back in, but still nothing.

    Hello Paul Fritz,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear about this issue on your dock and external monitors. I'll do my best to help.

This might be due to display driver issues on the device, or firmware problem on the dock. I'd suggest to try these steps first and see if it helps:

Force a shut down and restart your Surface

    • Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.

    Run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, then select it in the list of results.
If it's not already installed, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions in the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

Update Windows. Ensure all pending updates are installed.

    • Select Check for Windows updates. Or select Start > Settings > Windows Update.

    Clear your display cache

    • Undock your Surface from the Surface Dock or disconnect the monitor from your Surface.
    • Download the Surface Dock registry file. Choose to Openthe file. This file will clear your cache, whether you have a dock or not.
    • Select and run surface dock registry.reg.
    • Select Yesto allow changes to your Surface, select Yesto confirm, and then select OKto close.
    • Restart your Surface, reconnect the Dock and/or monitors, and try your external display again.

Then, you might also want to update the firmware of your dock: Update your Surface Dock (microsoft.com)

Let me know how it goes. I'll wait for your response.

    Regards,

    StevenK
