I just checked the specs.. Laptop 5 is listed with a 720p HD front facing camera and the old Surface Pro 4 is listed with 1080p. So this is a hardware difference.
surface laptop 5 Low camera quality
Hello,
I have bought a new Surface laptop 5 and surprisingly camera quality is very low like old webcams from years ago or my surface pro 4 Camera is having much better quality.
Is this a software issue?
Is anyone else having this problem?

2022-10-26T14:22:43+00:00 Hello Barb,
Thank you for your reply.
yes, the cameras are different but I had a talk with support this morning and they confirmed that the quality of the camera is not how it should be.
I will wait a couple of days for upcoming windows updates and if it doesn't fix probably my device is faulty and I should return it.

2022-10-27T16:26:44+00:00 Hi babakt18,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.
We understand that you were able to contact our live support already for assistance and yes, having low quality image on the camera is not normal. We would like to get some details though on the concern and see if there is something we can do to address this.
In regards to the low quality that you are getting, is it blurred, pixilated or
May I know if you also get this quality when using other applications that use the camera like Teams, Zoom and etc.?
When you open the Camera app of the device, may I know what were the settings set on the app? Open the Camera app the click on the Settings icon (gear icon). Take a screenshot of all the settings including Photo quality and Video quality and share it to us here.
Hope to hear from you.
Kind regards,
Marrion

Thank you for the response and details.
Checking on the photo you shared, it appears that you are in a low light room which could be causing the image to be dim. Do you also get the same quality when you are in a well-lit room?
On the Photo quality setting also, it shows that your camera is set to 0.9MP. Is there any other setting or option that is higher than 0.9MP when you click on the arrow down? If yes, kindly try using that setting then test if you still get the same results.
On the previous reply though, I'd like to ask again if you also get the same image quality when you use a video using app like Microsoft Teams or Zoom?
Kind regards,
Marrion
