Can you please provide the following:

What is the state of your Surface (Are these showing up when your Surface is actively running or would be in Sleep or Hibernate)?

Is your Surface charging or is it running on battery?

Do you have a cover attached when it's happening?

If so, which cover do you have attached?

Do you have any programs running when this occurs?

Hi I have a Surface 3 and this is happening to me.  Just had a random shut down, (with these errors proceeding the shutdown)Tablet was Charging, no keyboard attached, but I have two external monitors attached, running office 2013 Skype, twitter, Spotify,.  The machine was not hot to the touch.

    Hi,

I'm also having the same issue. It would go to the blue screen and force a restart of the surface pro 3.

I was in a Telco room trying to use putty HyperTerminal to configure a cisco switch and the surface 3 would crash (blue screen with sad face) and restart. This happened like 3 times within 10 minutes.

So I went to the event viewer and saw the error message approximately at that time of usage.

The speed of processor 2 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

The surface was running on the battery.

It was not hot at all.

I only had the stock type keyboard plugged.

Usb to serial adapter to connect to cisco console

    putty (application)

Is there a firmware update to fix this?

I'm running into this issue as well.

Surface Pro 3 less than a month old. I just performed a System Refresh last night. All available updates are applied.

I see there are not apparent suggestions for a resolution to this issues

that's because it isn't an issue in itself. limiting the cpu speed is what every device does to improve battery life and reduce energy use.
