Mic does not transmit through HDMI

I am using my Microsoft Surface Pro 7 to lecture in-person and remote, including recording. I use PowerPoint Record and transmit through a Microsoft Windows Display Adapter. The WDA is connected to a computer projection system. When I play Youtube, the sound is transmitted through the HDMI and plays on the projection system's speakers. However, my mic (either the built-in or external) does not transmit sound. I can turn on "Listen to this device" through the microphone settings, but it gives a delay as well as feedback.

Is there any way to transmit the microphone directly to the HDMI?

    Hi, RobertSorem!

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.

When you project your device to an external monitor, the audio and video played directly from the device would be the ones projected to the external monitor. For sound received through a microphone, you might need additional accessories in order for the captured voice to be clearly heard.

If I may ask, what is the make and model of your external microphone? Can you provide us the details on the devices and each accessory involved here so we can have a mental picture on your current setup?

You might want to check further with the microphone manufacturer as to how its captured audio can be setup with the computer projection system's speaker.

    Looking forward for your response.

    Kind regards,

    Janette_Z

I have tried both the internal mic as well as a BlueParrott B350-XT blue tooth headset. Neither one works.

I also connected the projection system directly through the Surface HDMI port with exactly the same result.

The mics do work as i use them to record PowerPoint slides while connected to the WDA. It seems to be either a software or hardware issue that will not allow the mic to pass through tonthe HDMI.

    thanks
