Hi Troy Li1,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I am aware of how inconvenient it may be to experience such problem on the device. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have with your Surface. We take this type of concern very seriously. Let me ask few questions to help us further isolate the issue.
Does issue happen when the device is plugged in or on battery?
Does the problem change depending on where the device is placed. Like indoors versus outdoors?
Do you also notice a decrease in the device's performance when it becomes warm or hot, such as lags or freezing?
Please try first running these steps below then see if problem persist.
Force the device to shut down and restart.
Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
Run the system file checker to check if there are corrupted system files that are just looping around causing this kind of issue to exist. See Using System File Checker in Windows - Microsoft Support.
Manually Update drivers and firmware
Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version. On the search box type Winver and hit the enter key.
Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop. Then click the link next to Surface Laptop Studio then click Download on the next page. Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next. After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
Surface devices adhere to all laws and guidelines related to temperature and thermal. It complies with the user-accessible surface temperature limits defined by the International Standards for Safety (IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368). See the sections called “Heat related concerns” and “Heat related concerns for wearable devices”. If the temperature reaches above the standards, the Surface will automatically turn off also giving you a thermal sign warning.
Kind regards,
Lavenia
