Issues switching modes on Surface

I use my Surface in laptop mode mostly, but if I switch to tablet mode (by flipping the keyboard cover around the back) and then try and bring it back to laptop mode by putting the keyboard in the normal position, it does not recognise this action. It remains in tablet mode, even if I use the soft button to switch back, it still does not recognise the keyboard position until I remove it and re-attach it.

Do I have a hardware issue or is this extremely badly designed software?

    Hi John,

To assist you with your concern, can you confirm the following information:

    • When did this issue start?
    • Have you tried to use a different keyboard?
    • Have you tried to check for and install the update?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far to resolve the issue?

    Regards.

    Hi,

    • The issue has been present since I started using this device. But it doesn't always happen.
    • I have only used the Microsoft keyboard cover
    • Auto update is on, no flags
    • For troubleshooting I have set the device to ask me when switching between modes, this has helped.

    Thanks
