Why can't I switch between tabs on my surface?

I've noticed this problem recently and it really has been bugging me. Whenever I'm on internet explorer, I can't seem to switch between tabs without exiting one out or opening a new window. I can still see the tabs, but whenever I touch them, nothing happens. Is there something wrong with my surface?

    Hello Andrew

Try giving your screen a gentle cleaning.  Manually ensure that all updates are installed.  Try varying the timing of tab selection (a bit longer or shorter on pressing), or use a slightly firmer touch.

Reorient Surface, sideways or even upside down.  If touch in Modern IE is more effective, that could help identify problem areas for touch.

Try mapping this area with Paint, are there any spots on the screen that don't seem to react to touch so well?

Let us know of your results.

    Best regards

The problem seems to have gone away. I just had to install some updates. Thanks for the help.

    Hello AndrewTaulane

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with Internet Explorer on your Surface RT.  Thanks for reaching out to us.

Are you experiencing this in Modern or Desktop IE?  Do you find touch functionality reduced in general?  Does using a mouse or the trackpad on a Cover work better?  Are you able to add new tabs as expected?

Is this only happening in Internet Explorer or are you having similar trouble in other apps and functions?

Let us know what is happening.

    Best regards

Desktop internet explorer allows me to switch tabs, but the app version I usually use won't. Overall, touch still seems fine. I have no idea how well a mouse works, since I don't have one. I can still add tabs, and this problem has so far only occurred on the internet explorer app.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
